Our Souls Shall Soar Higher & In Christ Alone Medley

S W

At times…

Our dreams pales out in the face of reality

And even hope seems to be hoped for

But our souls shall not be downcast

For our dreams must come to pass

In Christ alone, we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher…

Hymn

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song;

This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love,

what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand.

S W

Oh! what heights of love and oh what depth of peace

Up above the mountain

Down beneath the valley

In the heat of the African sun

And in the cold of winter’s snow

Though we bleed and moan in pain

In Christ alone… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

Hymn

In Christ alone! who took on flesh

Fulness of God in helpless babe!

This gift of love and righteousness

Scorned by the ones he came to save:

Till on that cross as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied

For every sin on Him was laid;

Here in the death of Christ I live.

S W

Indeed, here in the death of Christ we live

And as they did to him,

Passers-by may mock and jest

Upon our heads men’s feet may rest

Though our names men away may cast

Disgust and turmoil seeming our closest allies

No one to trust and no song to sing

Yet we shall not tire and we refuse to cry

When all men expect a sigh,

Instead we are going to smile

For In Christ alone… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

Hymn

There in the ground

His body lay

Light of the world by darkness slain:

Then bursting forth in glorious Day

Up from the grave he rose again!

And as He stands in victory

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,

For I am His and He is mine

Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

S W

We choose to look to him who gave his all for us

In his death he saw victory

In his pain he saw countless joy.

Though upon his head rested a crown of thorns

A robe of shame upon him was laid

Yet without malice to the maimers of his flesh,

He counted it all joy the anguish that he suffered

So though affliction may try our faith

And no words may describe the challenges we face

In Christ alone… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

We may be troubled but we are not distressed

We may be perplexed but we are not in despair

We may be in battle but we are not embattled

Many they may be that persecute us, yet we are not forsaken

We may be restless but we are not unsettled

We may be deprived today but we would not be depressed

Confounded but not be dumbfounded

Cast down many a times but we will not be downcast

It may seem to all that our heads are bowed in shame and defeat

Make no mistake about it, for we are only scheming a comeback plan

For in Christ alone… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

Hymn

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me;

From life's first cry to final breath.

Jesus commands my destiny.

No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand;

Till He returns or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

S W

Yes he controls our Destiny

And so to all our friends this note we sound,

We have decided to follow Jesus. Period!!!

Do not try to stop us for you will try in vain

We will fight the fight and we will run the race

We will strive to the finish line and we will claim our prize

Bruised and battered, we will not give up

With our faces marred, with sweat, dust and blood we will yet say in faith’s battle field arena

If the world would crucify us for standing for a cause that we know that is right,

Then let our words be published in all heavens, we will do it,

And In Christ alone… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

Hymn

No power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from His hand;

Till He returns or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

S W

And finally my brethren, after all said and done

It is our election to ensure that there is more done than said

And so to you our dear souls, if at the end of time

We suddenly realize that the streets of heaven are not paved with gold as we were told

And there are no such rewards as crowns and stars that shine as brightly as the sun

But for the reward of Jesus Christ the son,

Yet still shall our hearts be filled joy with and our mouth filled with laughter,

For what more shall we ask for, Jesus is all that makes it heaven for us

And so to you our dear heavenly father may this gentle soul of ours neither find rest nor peace

Until we have become all that you have made for us to be

In Christ alone… so and rightly so… we shall break out and our souls shall soar higher

Hymn

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song;

This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love,

what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!

My Comforter, my All in All, here in the love of Christ I stand.
